ONEIA and Ontario's environment industry

What is ONEIA?

ONEIA is the business association representing the interests of the environment industry in Ontario. It was established in 1991 by the private sector to promote environment business to industry and government in the province.

Our membership includes product and service companies, institutes, universities and governments. Through their innovation and experience in Ontario and around the world, our members provide market-driven solutions for society's most pressing environmental problems.

ONEIA is an organization of dedicated professionals working together to improve the business of the environment in Ontario.

How does ONEIA work?

ONEIA's Board of Directors and committee chairs represent a cross-section of the environment industry in Ontario with a mandate to improve business and advise on the political climate for members. ONEIA members are encouraged to participate by taking an advice role in the following committees:

These committees meet regularly to network and communicate ideas, issues and trends among members and to stakeholders in government and industry.

What does ONEIA offer?

Environmental Business Opportunity Breakfasts (EBOB's): ONEIA's monthly breakfast meetings feature high-profile guest speakers from government and industry addressing topics of the most current interest. Since each attendee has open floor to introduce themselves and their company, they provide exceptional networking opportunities and information sharing. Members save 20% over regular rates.

ONEIA Newsletter: A quick-reading, insightful and informative electronic summary of trends in environmental business and government policy. It keeps you up to date on ONEIA meetings, member news and business development opportunities (RFPs, events, funding access, etc.). Delivered by email each month.

Advocacy Committee: ONEIA has strong ties to provincial ministries and helps shape environmental policy in Ontario. Our influential Advocacy Committee meets monthly to discuss current legislative and regulatory matters and their impact on members. There are six sub-committees; Air/Climate Change, Brownfields, Energy, Technology, Waste and Water. These sub-committees develop position papers and letters representing the consensus of member views and take them to the government for response and action.

Environment Industry Day (EID) at Queen's Park: Each year, select groups of ONEIA members spend one day meeting with Ministers, MPPs and senior bureaucrats to update them on our activities and discuss the environment industry and government issues. ONEIA members are invited to special sessions with senior officials from the Ministry of the Environment and other related departments. The Minister and virtual "who's who" of industry and government attend the closing VIP reception and network with ONEIA members.

EnviroChannnel: Reach the environmental audience you want at an incredibly affordable rate through ONEIA's e-mail news release service. EnviroChannel is a permission-based e-mail list, administered by ONEIA, of more than 6,200 unique contacts, that lets you reach an incredibly diverse mix of:

Marketing and Business Development: ONEIA exhibits at over a dozen trade shows each year providing the opportunity for members to display their information at events they can not attend. These trade shows include conferences: Environment and Energy Conference (EECO); Americana; GLOBE; CANECT; Environment Finance Workshop Series - U of T; Emergency Preparedness.

ONEIA promotes its membership through direct mailpacks, advertising and sponsorship, helping its members sell their products and services. We also work with Ministry of the Environment-s Green Industry Office (GIO) and the export arm of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade on Virtual Trade Missions (VTMs).

Insurance:

1. Organizing E&O, home and auto insurance policies for Ontario environment companies.

2. Dealing with Ontario SSB on excessive E&O insurance requirements

3. Assisting SMEs deal with environmental insurance needs
