The Advocacy Committee is ONEIA's powerhouse, with expertise drawn from across the environmental and political spectrum. Our advocacy work is guided by the principle that the advice and counsel we provide must be based on good science, good policy and good economics.
One of ONEIA's key functions is to help its members collectively speak to governments about their concerns. The ONEIA advocacy committee and its five sub-committees (energy, air, waste, water and brownfields) serve as place where experts across the environmental sector gather to provide input on government legislation, regulations and policy discussions and to advance ideas that are in both the interests of ONEIA members and the interests of Ontarians.
ONEIA's Communications and Program Committee provides input and advice on our communications activities, including our website, e-publication and member guide. The Committee also sets the annual agenda for ONEIA's Environmental Business Opportunity Breakfasts (EBOB's), ensuring that we have interesting and engaging presenters who can speak about matters relevant to our members and guests.
The mandate of the Membership and Business Development (M&BD) committee of ONEIA will centre on the following three (3) functions: 1) it provides feedback on and proposes new ways of marketing the value of the organization to potential and existing members, sponsors and partners; 2) it provides feedback on and propose new revenue generating ideas for the organization; and, 3) it works with the Executive Director and other board members to identify ways and tools to network and make contact with new members.
