Inspiring dialogue at Environment Industry Day 2014
On November 18, 2014, ONEIA held its 14th edition of Environment
Industry Day, our annual day of dialogue with MPPs at the Ontario
legislature.
The day began with a breakfast address by Minister of Environment and
Climate Change The Hon. Glen Murray. The Minister inspired the audience
by drawing parallels between the historical challenges of the Manhattan
Project and the moon landing and the current challenge posed by climate
change. He called for improved dialogue around solutions between his
ministry and groups such as ONEIA.
The minister was followed by a "deep background" panel that drew back
the curtain on how Queens Park actually works. Panelists (list panel
names) explored the dynamics in the new legislature and offered
practical advice to the small teams of ONEIA members that met throughout
the remainder of the day with MPPs.
The Association and the environment and Cleantech sector was recognized
in the Legislature as a "bright light" in the Ontario economy, as all
three parties offered supportive introductions to Environment Industry
Day. The day then concluded with an informal reception for meeting
teams and members at Hart House's Gallery Grill.
