Ontario-China soil remediation workshop
The combined Ontario Ministries of Research and Innovation (MRI);
Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure (MEDEI); and
Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade (MCIIT) and the Ontario
Government along with the Chinese Consulate in Toronto hosted a
workshop on Ontario-China Soil Remediation on December 9, 2014 in
Toronto.
The Workshop was attended by over 70 participants
interested in learning about the Memorandum of Understanding between
Ontario and China to explore the exchange of opportunities for Soil
Remediation in China.
The Delegation from China wanted to gauge
the interest and knowledge of Ontario based private remediation
companies and researchers in soil remediation and brownfield development
activities in China. ONEIA membership was well represented with
Pinnacle Environmental, Waterloo Biotechnology, Pinchin, Stantec, SGS
Laboratories, Vertex Environmental, Kilmer Capital, and XCG Consultants
Ltd. in attendance.
A presentation providing the strength of the
ONEIA membership, collaboration activities and advocacy efforts was
delivered to the Chinese Delegation. Representatives of the Ontario
Ministry of Environment and Climate Change also provided context into
the regulatory environment for soil remediation and brownfield
redevelopment in Ontario.
