On Tuesday February 23, ONEIA welcomed new Environmental Commissioner, Dianne Saxe, to a reception and discussion hosted by ONEIA member Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP.
At her first annual address to ONEIA, the Commissioner said that she’s looking for suggestions on serious issues that should be addressed in her annual energy, greenhouse gas and environment reports, as well as cleantech success stories that deserve wider attention.
In her first three months in office, the Commissioner has already communicated with the government to begin clearing the backlog of forgotten Proposal Notices on the Registry and to finally take action on numerous Requests for Review. The Registry software is currently being updated and Saxe asked ONEIA and its members to help her “scrape the rust off” the Environmental Bill of Rights and make the Environmental Registry more accessible to users.
