Business and Policy Forum 2019

  • 30 Apr 2019

The day began with an opening keynote from Paul Kovacs, CEO of the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction, who spoke about the insurance industry's projections for the impact of severe weather on Ontario communities. A succession of morning panels looked at trends in investment and market growth, as well as examining the barriers that companies face as they move into markets outside Canada. Attendees then listened to a luncheon discussion with Deputy Minister Giles Gherson, point person on the province's "red tape reduction efforts, followed by off the record roundtables with a range of senior provincial policymakers. The day then concluded with the presentation of the Skip Willis award to Jane Pagel, former CEO of the Ontario Clean Water Agency, recognizing her work in fostering dialogue between the industry and governments.
