Panel A – Provincial Initiatives Influencing Brownfield Re-development

Join us for a combination presentation/discussion from regulators in several provinces on the way in which a variety of provincial initiatives affect the re-development of brownfield properties.  The regulatory environment is constantly changing, and different provinces have identified different areas of focus.  In this session, you will hear about evolving legislation, regulation and provincial best practices and their impact on your re-development project.

Presenters include:

  • Michel Poirier, Atlantic PIRI
  • Michel Beaulieu, Ministère de Développement durable, de l”environnement et des Parcs QC
  • Eric Pringle, Hemmera (BC)
  • Adam Leus, Ministry of the Environment ON

Panel B – Industry Dialogue

Our panel of industry experts will participate in an open discussion on a number of areas of interest to brownfielders, including:

  • Can sustainable remediation and traditional site development co-exist?  How are we going to deal with excess soils?  What are some of the emerging technologies?  Can we improve site management of soils using risk assessment?
  • Is it possible to streamline brownfield regulatory approvals?  What are the market perspectives of risks and implementation of risk management measures, financial assurances and contingencies?
  • Can we achieve regulatory conformance and stakeholder acceptance on more economically challenged brownfields?  Is there a staged approach to brownfield re-development such as creative interim uses (brightfields, etc.)?

Share your insights and concerns in these subject areas and pick the brains of some of the best in the business.
