Ontario-China Clean Air Technology Workshop

As you might know, some of the cities in China have experienced serious air pollution and smog issues recently. The Chinese Government is taking strong efforts to resolve these issues. For example, on Oct 14, 2013, the Ministry of Finance of China announced to invest $830M to support resolving the air pollution in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province surrounding regions.

In partnership with the Consulate of General of China in Toronto, the Ministry is hosting an Ontario-China Clean Air Technology Workshop on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 in Toronto.

Time: 9:30 am to 3:00 pm., Thursday, Nov 21, 2013
Venue: 35th Floor, Ontario Investment and Trade Centre, 250 Yonge St., Toronto.

You are invited to participate in the workshop. The objective of the workshop is to bring together Ontario’s key academic and industry representatives to discuss how Ontario’s organizations can leverage existing clean air technologies or develop new technologies to help China fight with the air pollution and smog issues in major cities. This will provide more R&D, commercialization/technology transfer, business development, and consulting/services opportunities for Ontario’s organizations.

Consul General, Mr. Li Fang will provide opening remarks at the workshop. This workshop will be a roundtable discussion format. Below are the potential outcomes:
1.     Identify some of Ontario’s promising technologies/solutions which can help China fight with the air pollution/smog issues.

2.     Consulate of General of China will provide recommendations to the related Chinese Governments to promote the adoption of these technologies.

3.     Develop R&D and commercialization partnerships with related Chinese organizations through the Ontario-China MOU platform.

4.     If new technologies need to be developed, the Ministry and the Consulate General will evaluate the possibility of focusing on the clean air technologies in 2014 Ontario-China Research and Innovation Fund program.

Registration is free.
Please RSVP to Sandy.he-easton@ontario.ca by Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013. Please help to pass on this event to the related organizations which might be of interested in attending. Seats are limited. More details of the workshop will be sent to you soon.
